Legends Studio is a small architecture firm in Bozeman, Montana. Since we opened our doors in 2003, we have been committed to providing the quality architecture that our clients desire, no matter the style or budget.

Our services

We offer our clients a complete set of design services. Whether you’re looking to build a new home, renovate an existing office space, or develop a subdivision, our team can help make your plans a reality. Our areas of expertise include:

Where we work

Our firm is based in Bozeman, Montana. With architecture licenses in Montana, Idaho, Washington, Utah, and California, Legends Studio services clients throughout the Northwest and Intermountain Regions.

Our process

At Legends Studio, we help our clients through every stage of the design and construction process. We have included an outline of our working method below to help you understand the chain of events that will unfold in the creation of your building.

  • Site Selection / Though not technically a part of the design process, site selection is a prerequisite for both design and construction. A site survey is conducted to identify all elements of a site that are needed to meld the building design with the land.
  • Programming / All details relevant to the project design, planning, and budgeting are established. A “program” defines your needs and objectives as a client.
  • Schematic Design / Better described as “conceptual brainstorming and exploration,” schematic design refers to the preliminary design of the project, illustrating its scale and the relationships between project components.
  • Design Development / The design of the project is defined to better establish scope, relationships, size, and appearance. Floor plans and exterior elevations will be drawn with greater accuracy and the building’s structural, technical, and mechanical systems will be identified and designed. By the end of the design development phase, 70-80% of the creative work is complete.
  • Construction Documents / All final drawings necessary for contractor bidding and construction are prepared. Design details for the exterior and interior are translated into technical documents that specify the materials and systems to be used in construction. Some design is still taking place.
  • Bidding and Negotiation / At this stage, we help you to obtain competitive construction bids or negotiated proposals from a selected list of General Contractors. In cases where a contractor has been selected from the outset of the project (what we call the “Design-Build” process), we will develop the drawings specifically for the chosen contractor.
  • Construction Administration / Before construction begins, we make all final changes or additions necessary. Once construction is underway, we make site visits to review progress and compliance with construction documents and specifications. Upon completion, we will thoroughly inspect your building to ensure that it is complete and ready for your use.

While your project’s requirements may vary slightly from those described, there will always be a portion of each phase involved in the design and construction of any building.

Pricing

We collaborate with each client to develop a customized work plan that best fits their project goals. This can be accomplished by structuring our contracts in a number of ways:

  • Hourly Contract
  • Hourly Contract (not to exceed)
  • Lump Sum Fee
  • Percentage of Construction Cost
